Memories of London Ontario Series

Do you have stories and memories of London, Ontario, Canada from the 1960s, 1970s or 1980s? Here at Blackfriars Publishing we cherish our city: the history, the people, the traditions, the diversity, the buildings, the fun times and the hard times.

Maybe you met your significant other at the London Arena roller skating or at the wrestling matches. Maybe as a kid you used to sneak into the Western Fair and enjoy the sights, sounds and smells. Perhaps you have memories of cruising the main drag, going to Theatre London, enjoying Kavalcade (spelling?), Home County Folk Festival, or visiting – then taking your own kids – to Storybook Gardens.

Are you a member of our local First Nations, or did you move to London from somewhere else in the world in the 60s, 70s or 80s and have memories to share?

Or perhaps you have many photos of London Ontario local hotspots, weather events, or celebrations.

At Blackfriars Publishing we want to celebrate London’s unique history and culture, from the banks of the river we currently call the Thames, to the hamlets that have been absorbed over the years, but whose names still ring important to Londoners: Hyde Park, Byron, and Lambeth. Or perhaps your memories are of specific neighbourhoods: EOA, SOHO, Wortley Village, Oakridge, or the more central part of London, from Petersville to Pottersburg. To that end, we are considering a series of books, Memories of London Ontario, that will be written by Londoners for Londoners.
